Why does everyone always want to break up the Midlands in the larger school division? Why not move Dutch Fork and Irmo to Region 5, and Lugoff and Spring Vally to Region 4?

Or does this help any better...personally don't like small regions, but does cut down on travel for spring sports

Jim I agree it's got wheels...just too many of them, as in buses on the road for 90 plus minutes...who ever did the geography on that needs to look at a map again and re-read the guidelines in keeping schools in the same class in the same regions...I.E. Carvers Bay & Andrews in 2A...having Andrews drive to Lee Central??? Camden going halfway across the state to play Strom Thurmond when there are 6 schools w/in 45 mins of it in the same class....same for Dillon driving to Georgetown and vice versa & why does everyone continue to put Sumter in the Florence/Beach region when they are 45 mins from Columbia & those 5A schools? 2A Region 6 & 7 you have schools driving through neighboring schools to go play region games further away?? Edisto driving down to Charleston for region games, really?? especially when all their traditional rivals are less than 40 mins around them??

Think this may be the proposal that Dillion is pushing. If you look at 3A football, you will know why.

Sumter needs to go to Region 5. Why in the world would they have to travel to the beach 3 times when they can go to region 5 in Columbia.

Region 4 5A does not make sense either. Gonna have 3 Columbia schools with 3 upstate schools.

why would you take woodmont from region 1 to region two and take mauldin from region 2 to region 1?? to get to greenwood from mauldin you have to drive pass woodmont no?

Geography and COMMON SENSE will play NO part in deciding this. JEROME is in CHARGE! Who are his croonies? What do they want? There will be your plan!

So in 5A, 4 out of 5 will qualify for playoffs (80%) in one region and in another region, 4 out of 8 (50%) will qualify?

As one can easily tell by just looking at this thread.....too many crybabies. Too many folks in the mindset of "everyone should get a trophy."

You are wrong! Making a 1500 student school compete with 3000 student schools isn't fair. That's like asking a 2A school to play in 4a. Think about what you are asking the bottom schools to do.

What do you want? Wando!, Dorman, and Summerville in their own division. You have to get past that argument. Besides, when is the last time one of them actually played for a championship in football?

Your comment "when is last time one of them actually played for a championship in FOOTBALL" tells me you aren't looking at the big picture. Here is a list of what Wando has done on the state level this past sports year....

State titles..........4
State runner up.......5
Lower state finals.....2
and 3rd in girls swim.

That's 9 state title shots in one sports year.

Very well stated.

JL Mann won 4 state titles this season and finished 2nd in points for the Class 4A AD Cup. JL Mann is half the size of Dorman and Summerville and did better than they did as an athletic program. Explain that.

This is going to sound real dumb but why do so many teams have to make the playoffs? You end up with someone that has a mediocre record that has no business being there playing. And please don't say for money because that is BS. Playoffs are for those that earned the right to be there!

Changing the classes won't stop this from happening as long as Wando has 4000 students.

In 5A they need to do a better job of mixing the Greenville and Spartanburg County school just for competitive balance. In JBs first list that is a cake walk for Byrnes in region 2 where the team that finishes last in region 3 could be better than the rest of region 2 altogether. Another list I saw showed region 2 basically comprised of only Greenville County schools with Easley thrown in. What a joke that would be especially taking into account that Hillcrest is in region 1 in every predicted lineup. When possible they do need to look at competitive balance even if the bus ride is 15 minutes longer
