#2 Goose Creek at #1 Sumter
Goose Creek advances with a 55-51 win over North Augusta, led by All State Dantez Bennamon with 19 points. Dismal shooting night for NA, as senior guard Christian Davis finished with only three points, and 1-11 from the field. Goose Creek was woeful from the line, finishing 11-25.
Sumter had no problems defeating Bluffton, 54-25 as four players hit six 3 pointers in the first 9 minutes. Sumter pressured all night, holding Bluffton to only 5 points in the first half.
Goose Creek defeated Sumter last year in the Lower State Championships, 57-47 despite being held to only 11 field goals. Top scorer Dantez Bennamon was held to only two field goals, however he was a perfect 19-19 from the free throw line to pace the Gators. Goose Creek as a team shot 33-36 from the free throw line.
Sumter (21-5) plays tough defense and pressure the whole length of the court. Goose Creek (24-2) runs well, and feature excellent perimeter shooters. Always a good, tough game when these two teams square off.
#2 Dutch Fork at #1 Wando
Wando knocked off Lexington 60-39 in the second round, led by Matthew Pegram with a game high 20 points. Wando led by 18 at the half, and 22 points into the fourth quarter.
Dutch Fork escaped Summerville with a 41-40 victory, DF senior Christian Mills buries a 10 footer in the lane with 10 secs on the clock. Summerville missed on their possession before time expired.
Wando (22-4) is undefeated at home this season. Dutch Fork (19-7) is 7-5 this season on the road, currently on a 7 game winning streak.
