With two weeks away from Spring and only about six weeks before Spring football practice, I thought we'd begin taking a look at the top players in the state by position for the Class of 2015.

Today, I'm breaking down the running backs this class has several guys that could find themselves playing at the Division I level. This is a breakdown of the top five from this Class with the next five to watch.

The top running back in this class is Ty'Son Williams of Crestwood High School. At 5'11, 202lbs, Williams is a dynamic ball carrier with the full set of skills. He's got great speed, quickness, good vision, navigates traffic well, has deceptive power, and can break away once in space. He already has close to a dozen FBS offers on the table.

At the No. 2 spot is Dutch Fork's Matthew Colburn. Colburn is an exciting player to watch with a complete skill set, like Williams. He lacks the size that the FBS schools seem to be trending towards, standing just under 5'8 but is solidly built at 180lbs and is one of the stronger backs in the state. He has one FBS offer from a mid-major school and may see more; he should see a lot more interest this Summer from the FCS schools, as well.

At No. 3 is James F. Byrnes' running back Isaiah Hill. AT 5-11, 205, Hill has a great frame and very good speed. He's great out of a one-back set, with the ability to catch the ball as a receiver out of the backfield and is excellent in space. Runs the zone well and is similar to former Byrnes back Marcus Lattimore as far as running style goes. He will be a high level FCS type of player and will attract the attention of some mid-major FBS programs.

Darlington's Trayvon Thomas has been on our radar since his freshman year. The 5-8, 205lbs player is an animal running the football in traffic and very difficult to tackle. He's got great strength, lateral quickness, and is explosive; he lacks straightline speed, which in my opinion is over rated with running backs, but will attract the FBS attention in this off-season.

Manning's Raquan Bennett is at the No. 5 spot. At 6-0, 215, is one of the bigger backs in this group. He's got good speed and vision and is a very physical football player. He had a big sophomore season as a running back and played both sides of the ball for the Monarchs as a linebacker on defense, as well. He could actually find himself recruited as a linebacker.

The next five for the Class of 2015[/B]

Jarius Jenkins, RB, 5-foot-10, 190, Hunter-Kinard-Tyler High school ? Versatile, physical, fast slashing type of runner.

Joseph Young, RB, 6-foot-1, 190, Fairfield-Central ? Strong, physical running back. Two FCS offers on table.

Kenny Waring, RB, 5-foot-9, 170, Wando High School ? Slashing scat back; may be fastest in the entire group.

Labradford Abson, RB, 5-foot-10, 183, Lamar High School ? Quick back to the edge; navigates traffic well; difficult to tackle with ability to make people miss.

Donovan Ward, RB, 5-foot-8, 185, Dreher High School ? Shifty running back with quick feet and breakaway speed. Excellent out of the backfield as receiver.
