Ironically there was no military there last year. Just a few veterans like myself. Maybe they can pull up w a few Humvees and an A1 Abrams. Or a fly by and hover outside the doors with an Apache.

Or if that's too much, just present the colors.

Army, Navy, Air Force Marines, Coast Guard and Seabees, thank you.

Should be some good wrestling again.

The Army National Guard originally committed to sponsor this tournament. Unfortunately in late November 2016, they informed Chapin that because of budget reductions, the sponsorship had to be withdrawn. When this occurred, the Chapin Wrestling coaches and parents worked with several local businesses to obtain support. The Army National Guard hopes to be able to participate with the January 2018 tournament. Other Branches also have been contacted.

It has been tough for the armed forces with the budget cuts and all. Hopefully, with a president that is looking to rebuild our military we will see the sponsorship work it's way back to us. We have enjoyed a 6-7 year run of working with the SC National Guard, 3-4 years with the Navy and other military branches. It is unfortunate as that sponsorship was the sponsorship used to give the free shirts and goodies to the wrestlers of the event!!!
