In the top of the sixth with Flora at bat and the Eagles holding an impressive 9-1 lead, Andy Hallet was handed a gift and he gladely accepted it. The Airport coach decided to leave his starter in even after all the signs were there that he was just out of gas. The Falcons touched him for 4 runs before airport (with a small a) could escape the inning. Then even more puzzling is that airport sent him back to the hill in the seventh and let Flora feed on him to tie the game. Amazing. I don't know if coaches just want to give complete game wins to pitchers or have no confidence in their relievers (they should with the performance they got from them through the remaining innings) but somewhere in that 6th inning the kid who did a great job for Eagles to that point should have been relieved. Most probably he would have been listed as the W pitcher today. Hallet can talk in the newspaper about how his team never gives up until the last out is recorded but last night he was being crushed by an unlikely opponent for which he had no answers until the guy on the other side of the field did him a favor. A really really big favor.
