Good start to the year for the Foxes! But they have a lot of work to do. Losing 4 senoir starters from last year, leaves some big holes to fill.
Coach Bobby Sowell recorded his 200th win on Saturday, and from the looks of things he may have been preparing for that and may not miss a beat.
As most know the one constant in Sowells line up is Junior Cayla Drotar, she was 4-0 in the circle 20+ K's, with 3 hr at least 6 bb and some very timely hits this weekend at the plate.
Sowell has some extremely talented youngsters returning to complement Drotar, and they all came up big this weekend. Returning are Freshman Taylor Watford who hit .540, with .1000 fielding, 10-0 as a pitcher last season, Saquita Joyner who is a Lock down CF, Myra McDonald who was hurt last year, 8th graders Jesse McWorter can play all positions, TAsia McPhail is one of the fastest kids Ive seen. Jaclyn Ponder is another one of Sowells constants and holds down 3rd. Courtney Ponder is a solid UP. New comers Cheyenne Griggs, Hanna Thompson, Morgan Howle, and the lone Senoir Lace Wall (Catcher).
Hartsville beats Grays Collegiate, Aynor,Sumter,East Clarendon and Byrnes to Win the Pee Dee Pitch Off.
A big shout out to Saquita Joyner on her walk off HR in the championship game against Byrnes.
Great job Coaches and Lady Red Foxes!

The Hartsville Lady Red Foxes are one of the very top softball programs in the state of SC. We all know about the pitching. But for a young team to put up 10 runs in a Championship Game of this caliper says more about the Bats they have in the Darlington, and surrounding area, than anything else.

If the Lady Foxes play solid Defense behind Drotar they will be very tough. If several plays were made against Byrnes this past weekend Byrnes may only have two runs. AGREE with BS100, the bats are coming alive in Hartsville. Pitching is there with Drotar and Watford.
