SC USA wrestling

Our State Chair does not have a treasurer's report. I would go to the SC USAW website and email other officers. I'm done as I resigned from the board last night.

Sorry to hear that.......I think guys like you were part of that young/new blood I think was needed to turn SCUSAW around.

Run for the hills as the shit is going to hit the fan. When you can't account for your funds then there's a huge problem. Maybe everyone else should follow you and resign. They are not new blood. They were part of the good ole boy system that should be abolished. This should open all of your eyes as to why our system is broken.

Any board members willing to share this information? Probably not!!! It sucks that you won't share this information. I'll just continue to believe that you old geezers suck and you are the main reasons that our state will continue to lag behind other states!

Now now Eaglefans is it me that is the problem or is it the old geezers? I still have a little hop in my step so i know you aren't talking about me in the old geezer statement. I do believe it is for sure time for some new blood to get in there and to attack things in a different way than "what has always been done". Running for the hills is just what has kept the problems i place, you guys are so mean that you have just broke everyone down over the years Eagles haha. Tony is part of the solution still, and will be back. As Tucker Allen said at the All State banquet thank you for all of the motivation Eagles, and thank you for allowing others to see it in your uneducated posts. Florida just overhauled their USA board and from what I have heard close to 180,000$ is not accounted for, as my roomate from college has taken the reigns and facing the challenge of fighting for change there. I have no idea where funds go, but if anyone that is referred to as the good ole boys or old geezers reads this i would suggest you post the information publicly in order to clear up any false accusations or assumptions. If it can't be posted then it definitely throws up a red flag, although technically a board member by being the National Team Coach I have done nothing but pay into the growth of USA Wrestling in the state.

Old geezers was directed at the old geezers, not you! As far as the young mans remarks at the high school sports report banquet; just means they worry about us. We get mentions at banquets and Tshirts made about us. Thanks. Eagles can say whatever they like. They don't need motivation when they steal other schools talented wrestlers. His mommy probably coached him on what to say anyway.

Yes, the recognition we receive at the banquets and the shirts that they spend their money on is a touching and loving gesture. We appreciate that. If we are in your mind and heart then we are in your soul. Those t-shirts was one less eagle that received training. We appreciate that. And I agree, they don't need any help stealing other schools talent. They have perfected that very well.

12x is great. Since you can count championships see if you can help me with the previous question that I asked. If your program is so great Eagles, how many wrestlers do you send to wrestle in college??? Somebody will run to your rescue and say we send lots of kids to college but they don't wrestle. I didn't ask that. If your wrestling program is so much better than all the rest, give us a number. I'd be more impressed if those wrestlers had been walking the halls in that school district before their freshman years. If I can't get that number can I get this one. How many Eagle wrestlers have a degree from a university over the last 10 years? Surely you keep those numbers.

I asked this question many months ago and Chip gave me some random HS team records but never answered the real question. So good luck with that question. Noone can answer it.

I will preface the following and say that I am pretty positive that most high school coaches that read this board will indentify and agree on the way we measure success.

Are you really dumb enough to equate the success of the men that a program produces based on the number of years they wrestle in college? More than likely the answer to that question is yes but I will entertain your idiocy. We are more concerned with the success of these men far beyond their time spent on a mat, whether it be high school or college. Not all of course but the vast majority of Eastside wrestlers graduate from college. They get this thing called a degree, similar to the diploma you received after you finished high school (we will all just assume you finished). They go on as successful business men, engineers, dentists, doctors, etc and others have distinguished careers in the military. Even the young men that chose not to attend college are busting their asses in the workforce because Eastside Wrestling equipped them with the mentality and fortitude to succeed. These successful individuals also go on and establish families, are successful husbands and fathers and are contributors to their communities. They also pay back to the very system that helped them get there by coaching/assisting the youth program as many of the young wrestlers currently coming through the feeder system are 3rd generation. My assumption is that you are reaching for an angle in your continued effort to discredit a program and basing this on the quantity of 4 year college wrestlers the Eastside program does/does not produce. Is that how high school coaches measure whether they are successful or not? Or do they look at the big picture and take solice in seeing how their wrestlers continue to succeed in life itself?

You want a number? How about I come up with the average annual income of the Eastside wrestlers over the past "x" number of years and we compare that to your current annual income???

Understand you may not, hate you will but argue their success you can't.

Ok...... Im certain this wont make you happy or you will find something witty to say...BUT... I will try to answer a bit of your questions ( although Im certain not completely)

since 2008 I counted 26 seniors who have graduated from our program - some quit before finishing their careers with us, so I did not count them in my research...

In that time - 7 went to college went wrestle... 6 were offered but chose not too ( although all of them went to college on academic scholarship) so thats 50% of our kids had opportunities to continue after high school.

Now of those 26 kids:
there is one doctor, a biologist, a cop, 3 military men, 4 business owners, an avionic engineer, a nursing home chef, an kinesiologist, a advertisement specialist, a realtor, a pilot, 5 are still enrolled in college pending graduation. now 5 went into the work force after school.

Now beyond that, 5 are dads, 2 are foster parents..... most are married and are good husbands and dads.

We are proud of our program accomplishments, but gauge our success beyond the mat - its the culture of excellence and dedication to a common goal that make our kids great!!! I am not arrogant enough to say others dont care about or do right by their athletes, Im sure they do ---- but if your argument is that we dont - you are not truthful or educated on our program.

As for kids that wrestle for us - we play by the rules Greenville County gives us and nothing more. If kids want to come to us because they feel we give them the best environment to thrive - I do not blame them or their parents. People love to make accusations, but if they were substantiated, they would have already had us before the high school league. Now - Im certain this isnt close to adequate for most, but there is your answer, and no I wont continue to post because I find it mostly to be useless to achieve much on a board or anonymity.

Told you. Even John can't answer that question.

I knew it - I missed a year ---- so I apologize...add a school teacher and a youth pastor to the number above - so 28

You guys have every right to be proud!!! Congratulations on your success!!!

Hey, what do you all think of the new rules? Love that I will get to call pins and near falls in HS for kids that are out of bounds! Think this is a great change!!

Hey guys, the original topic of this thread was about the problems with the South Carolina USAW chapter. Can you all keep focus and stay on topic? I know wrestling people often have short attention spans but seriously, keep the Eastside hate on the "I hate Eastside and here is why" thread I am about to start.

So lets hear the things that you would like to see changed and what it would take to gain support and participation. Release of a treasurers report, willingness to communicate and market, envolvement with h.s. coaches, etc.....

Organization is lacking. Schedule should be posted and promoted during the scholastic season and posted on track earlier with fliers.

When are the elections for board members/ officers? Are all positions electable? Who would make better board members than the ones we already have?

I think of the current ones Delgado is pulling the most weight, organizing and running tournaments. Why not make it responsibility of host club to organize and run tournament, do brackets, weighins etc.

Standard for officials to officiate matches, for instance a head official who evaluates and approves officials before they can officiate/ be put in charge of a child's safety.
Evaluate the possibility of compensation for officials.

I would like to see the main chunk of funds be split between the clubs who host the tournament, and funding for the duals teams and Fargo.

There's more I'm sure but that's just off the top of my head

The tentative schedule was posted on this forum and the website in November. The USA Wrestling team deal was promoted in late November/early December. The response I received from some coaches when asked about a team deal was "Why was it promoted in December when it is folkstyle season?" The deadline given to us was December and then I contacted USAW in Colorado to extend the deadline into March and don't think we had many, if any, take advantage of the deal. Info was put out during the HS season, but it more than likely gets ignored.

It would be nice to get some flyers out before the week of the tournament, but I remember a certain school that held a tournament last weekend that was criticized because they put their flyer out before another one did.

There's a lot of changes that need to be made with SC USAW that made it very frustrating for myself as a board member. I'm not going to get into details why I resigned- it was a number of things and then there was a recent issue that was the last straw, but those close to me know that I was planning on resigning at the end of the FS/GR season anyways.

I think Mike Powell is pulling just as much weight as Delgado. I'm not taking anything from Delgado but my opinion those two should be running the show. Mike Powell should be chair.

I do agree with everything else you are saying.
