Hanahan defeated Summerville 5-2 in the Championship Bracket and then went on to defeat Stratford 1-0 in the Championship game. Great game btw. Hanahan's young lefty pitcher looked very good with some good movement pitches.

Wando won the Gold Bracket after a dramatic last inning comeback against N Myrtle Beach and a solid win against West Ashley in the Championship Game.

Not sure what happened in the Silver and Bronze.

Very early season news.

MaxPreps seems to have upped their ranking service and projects the SC Preseason Rankings Top 5 as.
1. Byrnes 2. Union County 3. Northwestern 4. Hartsville 5. Clover

Byrnes also comes in at 40 in the nation preseason rankings. Northwestern has a transfer from TX to increase their standing.

Clover has increased much of its scheduling to include Union County (2) Northwestern (2) Gaffney (2) Boiling Springs (2) Byrnes Tourney and Azalea Tourney in Summerville.

Byrnes covered their week last scrimmage against Union County and Blythewood.

Still trying to get results of the scrimmage between Byrnes/Clover/Hillcrest/Wren scrimmage from those who were there. It is pretty quiet?

Pool A--Silver Bracket was Timberland and Bronze was Bluffton, but I don't know how they did. Those games were not played at Wescott. I was very impressed with Stratford and Hanahan, especially considering how the weather has been hindering practice time outside. The teams that had pitching depth or pitchers that were able to throw a lot of innings were there in the end, which is usually the case. Wescott's facility was impressive!

Bronze; Played at Summerville high school fields, light rain and cool. Long day, but weather and field conditions NOT a factor. Defending lower state champ Blufton vs Colleton County, Beaufort vs Cane Bay. Blufton defeated CC 10-7 in game one, Beaufort defeated CB 5-1 in game two. Scores are approximate.
Blufton head coach chose not to stick around for Bronze championship. CC head coach offered opportunity to fill spot but also declined.
Technically, I gues Beaufort would be the Bronze Champions.
CONGRATS to Hanahan on their overall tournament championship!
Very early in the season so we will see how it all plays out.

Bluffton had 7 girls with injuries, which is why they chose not to play championship game. 4 key starting players with hurt backs and shoulders. Gotta get them healthy before regular season.
