Woodruff Wins 7-0. The 8th graders for Woodruff are starting to get a little more consistent on defense. I don't think they had any errors last night. The next step is for them to be more consistent at the plate. Woodruff only had 3 hits for the night, but were walked 4 times. Most of the scoring came from a bases loaded hit by Ashlea Hunter that eventually found its way to the right center field fence and allowed 3 runs to score and a solo HR by Ashton Osborne. Eliza Long pitched another good game for Woodruff giving up only 2 hits with 4 SO and 1 walk.
This Chester team has some amazing athletes that are just young and raw. If the coaches can instill some fundamentals and get them to play year round, that can be a very good team. The girl that plays 3rd will be a really good player if she can continue to work on her fundamentals. Their JV team has even more athletes. If they find a way to get these girls to play more ball during the summer they can have a nice program.
