5 South Carolinians named Freshman All-American for 2012 College Baseball

Grayson Greiner started in 48 games behind the plate this season and has a batting average of .236 with six home runs and 31 RBIs. Greiner was very productive defensively for the Gamecocks, throwing out 17 runners trying to steal this season...........


Jordan Montgomery has appeared in 14 games this season, starting in 12, and has a record of 5-1 with a 4.05 ERA and 51 strikeouts. Montgomery started in USCs 4-3 victory against Clemson last weekend in the Columbia Regional. He went 6.2 innings on the mound allowing two ER, five hits and striking out six............



Chad Sobotka, USC Upstate relief pitcher, also earned freshman all-american honors by Collegiate Baseball. Sobotka was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen Team after appearing in 25 games recording a 3-0 record, 1.72 ERA and 12 saves for the Spartans...........



Elliott Warford, Furman pitcher, has earned freshman all-american honors by Collegiate Baseball as well. Warford, a Southern Conference All-Freshman selection, was 6-0 with a 3.61 ERA and seven saves in 31 appearances..........



Chase Shelton, Charleston Southern first baseman, earned the freshman all-american honors by Collegiate Baseball also. Shelton, a Second-Team Big South selection, hit .344 and had four home runs, 13 doubles and 29 RBIs.
