HARTSVILLE, S.C. Hartsville hit three homers, and Cayla Drotar struck out 10 as the Red Foxes defeated Dillon 9-1 on Monday in high school softball action.
Hartsville, the top-ranked team in Class 3A, broke the game open with four runs in the fourth and sixth innings against the Wildcats, ranked No. 2 in Class 2A.
Leading 5-0 in the sixth, Hartsville got back-to back solo home runs from Drotar and Katie Parker before Madeline Smith belted a two-run shot to make it 9-0. Senior Hanah Lucas also had a big 2 RBI hit as well. The big blows were provided
by the Seniors and Drotar, but 8th graders Taylor Watford and Sequita Joyner and 10th grader Jaclyn Ponder combined for 5 hits on the night.
