My heart breaks...

for assistant Coach BJ Wertz of Ninety-Six High School. His wife was killed in an incredibly freak accident last Friday night in Saluda. A deer was struck by the car in front of them, thrown into the air, where it crashed through the windshield of Coach Wertz's truck - killing her. From what I was told, one of their children was also with them riding in the rear row of the cab. Only Jennifer was touched...

We are so very sorry for your loss, coach. I have no words to explain this. Please know that you are in our thoughts and our prayers...

Wow. I don't think there's anything in life that can prepare you for something like that. It's awful. I'm familiar with the Wertz family, and they're good people. Prayers are definitely out.
