Austin Lawton sat three hats on the table he sat behind in Lake Marion High's media center.
One
hat represented Claflin. One represented South Carolina State. One
represented the Miami Heat. As much as Lawton admitted that he'd like to
jump straight to the NBA and play for the defending champs, he
couldn't. Instead, the former T&D Slammin' & Jammin' champ
picked up the maroon hat and placed it on his head as he verbally
committed to Claflin on Friday with parents, friends, coaches and
teammates looking on.
Lawton helped Lake Marion finish the year with a 27-2 record, including a
second straight trip to the Class 2-A state championship game. He
averaged 10.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per contest as a senior under
Gators head coach Roy Brown.

Brice, a 5-foot-10 point guard, faced a recruiting conundrum:
take a partial scholarship or walk-on spot at a Division I school, or a
full scholarship at a Division II. By signing with USC Aiken, Brice
opted for the latter.

Brice was named all-state this season and was an all-region player
three out of his four varsity years as a Stallion. He had varying
degrees of interest from a number of schools, including James Madison,
